The Lord approves of the godly,
but he hates the wicked and those who love to do violence.
See the one who is pregnant with wickedness,
who conceives destructive plans,
and gives birth to harmful lies –
he digs a pit
and then falls into the hole he has made.
He becomes the victim of his own destructive plans
and the violence he intended for others falls on his own head.
Do not envy a violent man,
and do not choose to imitate any of his ways;
Blessings are on the head of the righteous,
but the speech of the wicked conceals violence.
The violence done by the wicked will drag them away
because they refuse to do what is right.
An angry person stirs up dissension,
and a wrathful person is abounding in transgression.
“I hate divorce,” says the Lord God of Israel, “and the one who is guilty of violence,” says the Lord who rules over all. “Pay attention to your conscience, and do not be unfaithful.”
