Watch yourself so that you make no covenant with the inhabitants of the land where you are going, lest it become a snare in your midst.
Then a spirit came forth and stood before the Lord and said, ‘I will persuade him.’
“The Lord said to him, ‘How?’
“And he said, ‘I will go and be a lying spirit in the mouth of all his prophets.’
“And He said, ‘You will be successful and persuade him. Go forth, and do so.’
“Now therefore, the Lord has put a lying spirit in the mouths of all your prophets here, and He has spoken evil concerning you!”
Thus says the Lord: Do not deceive yourselves, saying, “The Chaldeans will surely depart from us,” for they will not depart.
Thus says the Lord:
For three transgressions of Judah,
and for four, I will not revoke the punishment,
because they have rejected the law of the Lord,
and have not kept His commandments.
The lies which their fathers followed
have led them astray.
Thus says the Lord God: Woe to the foolish prophets who follow their own spirit and have seen nothing!
They have seen vanity and lying divination, saying, “The Lord says,” when the Lord has not sent them. And they have made others to hope for the confirmation of their word.
It is surely because they have seduced My people, saying, “Peace,” when there was no peace. And when anyone builds up a wall, they daub it with whitewash.
God made two great lights: the greater light to rule the day and the lesser light to rule the night. He made the stars also.
Jesus answered, “You err, not knowing the Scriptures nor the power of God.
And many false prophets will rise and will deceive many.
For false christs and false prophets will arise and show great signs and wonders to deceive, if possible, even the elect.
Let no one deceive himself. If anyone among you seems to be wise in this world, let him become a fool that he may be wise.
For the wisdom of this world is foolishness with God. For it is written, “He catches the wise in their own craftiness,”
For if someone thinks himself to be something when he is nothing, he deceives himself.
even him, whose coming is in accordance with the working of Satan with all power and signs and false wonders,
and with all deception of unrighteousness among those who perish, because they did not receive the love for the truth that they might be saved.
Therefore God will send them a strong delusion, that they should believe the lie:
But you, brothers, do not be weary in doing good.
But exhort one another daily, while it is called “Today,” lest any of you be hardened through the deceitfulness of sin.
Be doers of the word and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves.
If we say that we have no sin, we deceive ourselves, and the truth is not in us.
We are of God, and whoever knows God listens to us. Whoever is not of God does not listen to us. This is how we know the spirit of truth and the spirit of error.
