Behold, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse;
the blessing, if ye shall hearken unto the commandments of the LORD your God, which I command you this day:
and the curse, if ye shall not hearken unto the commandments of the LORD your God, but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods, which ye have not known.
And Samuel said, Hath the LORD as great delight in burnt offerings and sacrifices, as in obeying the voice of the LORD? Behold, to obey is better than sacrifice, and to hearken than the fat of rams.
Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! then had thy peace been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea:
but this thing I commanded them, saying, Hearken unto my voice, and I will be your God, and ye shall be my people: and walk ye in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.
If ye love me, ye will keep my commandments.
He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself unto him.
But Peter and the apostles answered and said, We must obey God rather than men.
And hereby know we that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that saith, I know him, and keepeth not his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him:
but whoso keepeth his word, in him verily hath the love of God been perfected. Hereby know we that we are in him:
he that saith he abideth in him ought himself also to walk even as he walked.
