I want to learn only this from you: Did you receive the Spirit through the works of the law, or by hearing with faith?
And it will be that, afterwards,
I will pour out My Spirit on all flesh;
then your sons and your daughters will prophesy,
your old men will dream dreams,
and your young men will see visions.
Even on the menservants and maidservants
in those days I will pour out My Spirit.
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in My name, will teach you everything and remind you of all that I told you.
“But when the Counselor comes, whom I shall send to you from the Father, the Spirit of truth who proceeds from the Father, He will bear witness of Me.
Nevertheless I tell you the truth: It is expedient for you that I go away. For if I do not go away, the Counselor will not come to you. But if I go, I will send Him to you.
When He comes, He will convict the world of sin and of righteousness and of judgment:
of sin, because they do not believe in Me;
of righteousness, because I am going to My Father, and you will see Me no more;
and of judgment, because the ruler of this world stands condemned.
“I have yet many things to tell you, but you cannot bear them now.
But when the Spirit of truth comes, He will guide you into all truth. For He will not speak on His own authority. But He will speak whatever He hears, and He will tell you things that are to come.
He will glorify Me, for He will receive from Me and will declare it to you.
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit comes upon you. And you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the ends of the earth.”
And hope does not disappoint, because the love of God is shed abroad in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who has been given to us.
But if the Spirit of Him who raised Jesus from the dead lives in you, He who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies through His Spirit that lives in you.
so we, being many, are one body in Christ, and all are parts of one another.
We have diverse gifts according to the grace that is given to us: if prophecy, according to the proportion of faith;
if service, in serving; he who teaches, in teaching;
he who exhorts, in exhortation; he who gives, with generosity; he who rules, with diligence; he who shows mercy, with cheerfulness.
Now the Lord is the Spirit. And where the Spirit of the Lord is, there is liberty.
But God has revealed them to us by His Spirit.
For the Spirit searches all things, yes, the deep things of God.
For what man knows the things of a man, except the spirit of man which is in him? Likewise, no one knows the things of God, except the Spirit of God.
Now we have received not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit which is of God, so that we might know the things that are freely given to us by God.
These things also we proclaim, not in the words which man’s wisdom teaches, but which the Holy Spirit teaches, comparing spiritual things with spiritual.
But the natural man does not receive the things of the Spirit of God, for they are foolishness to him; nor can he know them, because they are spiritually discerned.
There are various gifts, but the same Spirit.
There are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.
There are various operations, but it is the same God who operates all of them in all people.
But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to everyone for the common good.
To one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom, to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit,
to another faith by the same Spirit, to another gifts of healings by the same Spirit,
to another the working of miracles, to another prophecy, to another discerning of spirits, to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.
But that one and very same Spirit works all these, dividing to each one individually as He will.
For no prophecy at any time was produced by the will of man, but holy men moved by the Holy Spirit spoke from God.
But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, gentleness, goodness, faith,
meekness, and self-control; against such there is no law.
