“How happy is the man whom God corrects!
Therefore do not despise the discipline of the Almighty,
Blessed is the man whom You chasten, OLord,
and teach from Your law,
that You may give him rest from the days of adversity,
until a pit is dug for the wicked.
Before I was afflicted I wandered,
but now I keep Your word.
It is good for me that I have been afflicted,
that I might learn Your statutes.
My son, do not despise the chastening of the Lord,
nor be weary of His correction;
for whom the Lord loves He corrects,
even as a father the son in whom he delights.
But when we are judged, we are disciplined by the Lord, so that we would not be condemned with the world.
And you have forgotten the exhortation addressed to you as sons:
“My son, do not despise the discipline from the Lord,
nor grow weary when you are rebuked by Him;
Now no discipline seems to be joyful at the time, but grievous. Yet afterward it yields the peaceful fruit of righteousness in those who have been trained by it.
