See, I set before you this day a blessing and a curse:
a blessing, if ye obey the commandments of Jehovah your God which I command you this day;
and a curse, if ye will not obey the commandments of Jehovah your God but turn aside out of the way which I command you this day, to go after other gods which ye have not known.
And Samuel said, Has Jehovah delight in burnt-offerings and sacrifices, As in hearkening to the voice of Jehovah? Behold, obedience is better than sacrifice, Attention than the fat of rams.
Oh that thou hadst hearkened to my commandments! Then would thy peace have been as a river, and thy righteousness as the waves of the sea;
but I commanded them this thing, saying, Hearken unto my voice, and I will be your God and ye shall be my people; and walk in all the way that I command you, that it may be well with you.
If ye love me, keep my commandments.
He that has my commandments and keeps them, he it is that loves me; but he that loves me shall be loved by my Father, and I will love him and will manifest myself to him.
But Peter answering, and the apostles, said, God must be obeyed rather than men.
And hereby we know that we know him, if we keep his commandments.
He that says, I know him, and does not keep his commandments, is a liar, and the truth is not in him;
but whoever keeps his word, in him verily the love of God is perfected. Hereby we know that we are in him.
He that says he abides in him ought, even as he walked, himself also so to walk.
