3. Longing for Beauty

The beautiful God made his favorite creations to be beautiful.
The beauty of God emanates from His person and resonates within us.
We reflect His own beauty.
We cannot create beauty ourselves, so we reflect God's beauty.

Let's look at some aspects of this longing for beauty.

1) Beauty shared, beauty revealed

There is something in the human spirit that makes us hate feeling ugly.
We yearn to be attractive and beautiful, and this yearning is an expression of God's genius and personality.
We were all meant to feel beautiful before God, and there is something powerful about those who genuinely feel that way.

Pursuing natural beauty outside the bounds of God's grace can be harmful. To ignore divine limits is to end up with extra pressure and problems.

2) His beauty in exchange for our ashes

The spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD has anointed me to preach good news to the meek; he has sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to the prisoners; Isaiah 61:1

Ashes - are what's left, the result of burning our wrong passions.
Some people's lives are like a pile of ashes, even after knowing God for many years.
We lose a lot when we make sinful choices.

Nobody wants our ashes, but God exchanges our ashes for His beauty.

3) Manifestation of Inner Beauty

Inner or spiritual beauty leaves traces of our physical beauty in this age, brightening our countenances and changing our personalities.

May your beauty not be external, like braids in your hair, gold jewelry and fine clothes, but may it be in your inner being, an abiding beauty of a meek and quiet spirit, which is of great value in the sight of God. 1 Peter 3:3,4

4) light and glory

Then the righteous will shine like the sun in their Father's Kingdom. He who has ears to hear, let him hear. Matthew 13:43

The ultimate purpose of our story is to shine God's beauty on us in every direction and to leave a mark on history.
As children of God, in His image and likeness, we shine His Light and His Glory through our lives.

Much more than external beauty, God is most interested in developing His beauty in us and not the selfish and deceitful beauty of this world.
